Search Capabilities:
Most online dating services provide general search guidelines, but Yahoo! Personals takes it a step further with over 25 different options to narrow your search. These search options include everything from appearance preferences, to lifestyle choices, to values, to interests. Setting up preferences takes a little while, but the effort is worth it since you’ll receive better matches.
Also, Yahoo! offers a convenient Quick Search option for those who want a no-frills search. Now, if you have some specific preferences that aren’t included, you can still take advantage of the quick search using keywords.
Another enjoyable feature was the Personals Name Search. This function allows you to locate those who have noticed you and those who you would like to get to know better.
Profile Setup:
The profile setup only takes a few minutes. Then Yahoo! prompts you to report, in your own words, anything else that you feel is important enough to share.
Compatibility Analysis:
The Yahoo! Personals website doesn’t use compatibility tests as some online dating sites do. Instead, Yahoo! asks you to enter fourteen characteristics that cover the basics (your interests, political views and occupation).
Yahoo! Personals also includes a section that allows you to describe yourself. In this section, you can include any information that you think is important to give someone a clear picture of your background, values, goals or anything else you want to reveal.
I was a little disappointed that there was no personal profile helper available to help write the personal part of the profile. It is hard to make up for a bad first impression if your profile is boring. I prefer the additional help that some sites offered-sometimes you need all the help you can get!
Membership Features:
Yahoo! Personals membership features are a lot of fun. You can opt to “put out the vibe” with several flirting mechanisms, (including an icebreaker feature similar to the one on PerfectMatch).
Besides the typical chatting application, Yahoo! Personals included video profiles and voice greetings, both of which provide you with a glimpse of more personality and real-time communication.

Yahoo! Personals’ organization is user-friendly and enjoyable. There is no need for a heavy tutorial here.
When navigating through the site, the link to My Personal Information was small and difficult to find. But this problem can be fixed from your own Yahoo! page.

Yahoo! Personals does offer a little boost in the world of online dating, but not as much as some other sites. Even though we don’t consider it the best selection for your only online dating resource, consider teaming Yahoo! Personals with another dating website for better success.

My advice for internet dating is that first of all, you choose a reputable dating site; such as Yahoo Personals.
After that, be as honest as possible about yourself. Be somewhat cautious about whether the person you are connecting with is being totally honest about theirself, until you spend some time with that person.
Also, make it clear where you are coming from, and what sort of relationship you’re interested in pursuing. If you’re not feeling ready for a serious relationship, or if you are, make sure you are being totally upfront about it.
Keep an open mind…the guy or girl of your dreams may not have the color hair you were thinking, or be as tall, short, thin, big…(you get the idea).
Don’t be liberal with your personal information.
If you feel you have really clicked with someone and are comfortable with it, talk on the phone.
If that goes well and you want to meet, be sure to drive your own vehicle, and meet at a public place.
If that goes well, eventually you can begin giving out more personal information, such as where you live. But take your time to get to know as much as possible about the person you are getting aquainted with. A good way to do that is to meet his or her friends, and family.
You may find some good friends, and/or possibly the love of your life!
