Review
Search Capabilities:
Date.com has a quick search option (gender, age, location, relationship sought) and a more advanced option (basic physical characteristics, horoscope, religion, job and income). The advanced search button was a little more difficult to locate since it is a text link and does not match the basic search button on the homepage.
Other options include a search for members online now, new members, all members and—this is new—members with a birthday coming up. The birthday search sorts members by horoscope instead of by actual birthday.
Profile Setup:
This profile was extremely simple to set up. Five minutes, tops. Everything was check boxes except for the personal essay. Some may take the opportunity to add more personal insight and personality to their profiles. You don’t have to answer all the profile questions, but omitting them makes accurate searching harder.
Compatibility Analysis:
Date.com’s profile is not especially generous. It doesn’t go into detail on personality traits or hobbies. Height, religion, job, relationship type—only the basics are covered.
But Date.com does have profile helpers. These skilled writers can change your “get to know me” paragraph from dull to dashing after a short phone call, and the service isn’t pricy. Samples are available on their site.
Instead of: Fun girl, enjoy sports… the writers interviewed one woman and came up with something like: “I love watching the Mets in the rain, and sometimes I can even get free tickets to the games. Wanna come?”
Membership Features:
Date.com does tell you the number of people who’ve viewed your profile, but they don’t let you see who those people are. This was disappointing, since we all want to know who has been taking a second look.
Date.com doesn’t offer many extras, but they have started offering offline events where singles can meet in a safe environment for a fun–filled getaway. Their most recent event was a Caribbean cruise complete with onboard events.
Site Navigation:
Date.com has designed their site to be user friendly. The site is set up with every option handy, right on your profile homepage.
Date.com has the essential features for a dating site. Everything is somewhat small, but not confusing. Changing passwords and even deleting an entire profile are simple tasks.
Help and Support:
Date.com FAQs page is sufficient for most questions. If you need more help, you can contact Date.com by email; replies are fast.
Summary:
This dating site is a good solid “average”. Date.com covers the basics well, but the features common on higher ranked websites are more fun to use. Perhaps more personality questions would add to the quality of the search engine. However, for quick setup Date.com is hard to beat.

“We realized that we were not only alike, but we fell in love. We got married after one week, and now I’m writing this note here in my apartment in San Diego.”
