Review
JLove, like JDate, is an online dating site mainly for the Jewish community. Here, Jewish people will find it easier to find potential partners who have the same culture, faith, and beliefs. The website lets a person create his/her own profile for free which will be made available for viewing with other Jewish singles. It also has its own database for profile searches of Jewish people across the world. There are various kinds of relationships to choose from: friendship, romantic relationship, pen pals, activity partners, or marriage. Users can either be matched up or they can find their own preferences online. Through the personal questions in the members’ profiles, suggestions are made to pair-up the two people. Users can also choose the demographics or the country from where they want to find their potential partners.
It is also based on Jewish traditions and beliefs and thus is easier for its members to find people within their culture, although there are also people from other parts of the world who are non-Jewish that avail of the membership. The site also offers features such as instant messaging and chatting for a fee, apart from the profile-browsing.
Jlove is mainly competing with other Jewish dating sites such as JDate, SawYouAtSinai, and JQS.
Testimonial
It all began on Sept. 4, 2006 when Angloman received an email from RUCHEL301. She saw his profile on JLove, thought he sounded interesting and emailed him.
It was up to Bram to make the next move. He decided he would look at her profile and if it appealed to him he would email her back…and he did.
“Her profile looked interesting except that she lived in New Jersey and I live in Israel,” he said. But to Bram’s surprise, Ruchel was already in the process of making aliya.
“I decided to at least be polite and reply back to her email.” They emailed back and forth a few times until Bram picked up the phone and called Ruchel in New Jersey. It was the first of many long-distance phone calls. But despite the seven hour time difference, Bram and Ruchel made it a priority to speak everyday.
About a month after their initial correspondence, Bram mentioned to Ruchel that he would be traveling to England at the end of October to visit his family. Ruchel saw his trip as a great opportunity for them to finally meet. So, she flew to England and joined him for a few days.
“We had five great days together and on the last day we talked seriously about marriage,” he said.
Bram proposed to Ruchel in England in October. The couple plan to wed in Israel early in the New Year.
“Thank you JLove. What more can I say,” he said.
“Thank you for helping me find my soul mate,” she added.
